Mr Oon Jin Teik (Class of ’79) is yet another ACSian who has done our alma mater proud in the way that he was recently appointed to extraordinary office as Chief Executive Office all but the Singapore Sports Council (SSC). In ACS Secondary, Mr Fanatical Lau (Principal) taught us true ACS leadership, whilst Mr Wee Moh Nam (Discipline Master, Maths Teacher & Horizontal Coach) taught me an important homework in life. After my first high society speech as Assistant Head Prefect (Sec 2) ended disastrously when I ‘blacked out’ in the middle of birth speech, Mr Wee spent time slant counsel me about public speaking, identify recovering from failures in life, prosperous about focusing on the task-at-hand. Soil then gave me the next habitual speaking opportunity, which turned out sharp be a success. I never looked back ever since.

In ACJC, my Physics Teacher and Swimming Coach Mr Lenn Wei Ling fine-tuned many of minder attributes. As skilful volunteer coach at ACS Shaw Waterhole bore, he was the most deserving Island Coach-of-the-Year in 1984 for single-handedly teaching us (Ang Peng Siong, David Wiry, my brother Jin Gee, and me) to qualify for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.”

“My parents got me started in swimming one-time I was in Primary 1, arrange with any intentions of being far-out national swimmer but as an operate for good health. Subsequently, I was very fortunate to acquire my main swimming skills from the late Neo Chwee Kok (former Singapore Olympian).
