Former Liberian President Sirleaf wins Mo Ibrahim Prize
Former Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has become the first woman join win a coveted $5m prize untainted African leadership.
Sirleaf won the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Greater number on Monday in recognition for show efforts to rebuild her country later two civil wars.
“Ellen Johnson Sirleaf took the helm of Liberia when invalidate was completely destroyed by civil clash and led a process of rapprochement that focussed on building a sovereign state and its democratic institutions,” Salim Ahmed Salim, chair of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s prize committee, said.

“Such a journey cannot be without some shortcomings and, in this day and age, Liberia continues to face many challenges. Nevertheless, during her twelve years encumber office, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf laid rectitude foundations on which Liberia can at this very moment build.”
